The grape-pickers' drink
Ratafia is the perfect harmony between the sweetness of the fruit and the power of the drinks
distilled. Our version is the fruit of the meeting between fresh grape juices from Aligoté de
Meursault and a fine distilled in Pommard in our own stills. This authentic drink
and traditional was once the ally of the grape harvesters, offering the comfort of natural sugar from
grapes and the strength of the liquor after a long day’s work.
Ratafia exists in different forms in all wine regions of France, but has
Unfortunately, we almost fell into oblivion. At Sabs, we took up the challenge of revisiting this
classic while preserving the freshness of the fruit. Our Ratafia thus reveals almost
exotic, subtly enhanced by a brandy of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, in tribute to
the traditions of the steamer.
How to taste our Ratafia?
• Served fresh with ice cubes and a dash of sparkling water as an aperitif.
• In agreement dishes & wines, on a cheese.
• And of course, as a base or modification in cocktails, true to our tradition of
mixology (see recipes).
The label, designed by our friend and illustrator Frédéric Bernard, tells the story of this
product: "from Meursault to Beaune via Pommard, from the vineyard to the distillery in passing
by the still".
